- Site Work - La Spa Forêt site was carefully staked to ensure minimal disturbance. During excavation only the building footprint and a 15-20 foot perimeter was disturbed. Only 3 large trees and some brush were removed from the site. Shrubs, trees and vegetation native to NEPA will be re-planted once the building is complete.
- Engineered Lumber – Huber’s ZIP system will be used for the exterior sheathing. By using this sheathing less mature trees will be cut down to provide lumber for this PAGreenHouse since the ZIP system can be made from smaller trees or brush. Additionally, the ZIP system is mold resistant which helps ensure healthier indoor air quality.
- Trusses - Instead of stick framing the roof, onsite trusses will be used for La Spa Forêt. Since trusses are a factory engineered solution, the typical onsite waste due to cutting of material for the roof can be virtually eliminated.
- Windows – La Spa Forêt will have energy-efficient windows that employ advanced technologies, such as protective coatings (Low-E) and improved frames, to help keep heat in during winter and out during summer. These windows also block damaging ultraviolet sunlight that can discolor carpets and furnishings.
- Plumbing Fixtures – Each of the faucets in La Spa Forêt will hold the Environmental Protection Agency’s Water Sense label. Every faucet that holds this label uses at least 20% less water than the norm. The average faucet in La Spa Forêt will use only 1.5 gallons of water per minute. This helps conserve water, our most valuable natural resource.
- Paint – La Spa Forêt will contain low/no VOC paints throughout. By nearly eliminating VOC’s emitted from paints, indoor air quality is improved. Additionally, it helps protect our environment.
- Carpets & Flooring – Carpets installed in all our spa suites and common areas are made from 100% recycled carpets and have no/low VOC's.. Treatment rooms and hallway floors were installed with carbonized bamboo flooring.
- Lighting – Light fixtures that accommodate compact fluorescent lights (CFL’s) will be used throughout La Spa Forêt. CFL’s last much longer than traditional incandescent bulbs and use approximately 20% less electricity.
- Salt Water Pool and Hot Tub - The salt water system uses UV technology to break down simple table salt into sodium and chloride to naturally chlorinate the water. Not only is this safer for the environment, but it is also gentler on the skin, eyes, and the air you breathe.
- Sprinkler System - The Sprinkler System for fire safety will actually recyle water from the pool. Therefore the pool water acts as the resevoir for the sprinkler system.
- Forest Essentials, Bath Amenities - This penetrating mixture combines botanicals known for their soothing and nourishing properties, including aloe, Provitamin B5, vitamin E, and copaiba oil from the rainforest. A rich, yet subtle fragrance evokes images of the outdoors, and sustainably harvested packaging elements complete this fresh and eco-friendly collection.
